The “E” Word

I was sitting at my desk taking a break from work and school when I decided to check my email. One email stood out from the rest. This email was a reminder to update my billing information for this site. It made me think…I forgot all about The Zealous Disposition! How could I…was I too busy to care? I think some of the reasons were as follows:

I felt too busy.
I felt distracted.
I felt comfortable with my everyday routine.

Did you catch that last line? Although I was busy, distracted, (and stressed)…I was comfortable with the routine. Let me explain.

I felt comfortable because I did not want to make the effort to change the routine. I didn’t make the effort to change things so that I would not be too busy. I didn’t make the effort to change things so that I would not be distracted. As I look back on the past two years, I was comfortable with my plateaued way of life. What was the reason behind this plateau? EFFORT

It takes effort to change…it takes effort to move forward…but when you put in the effort you’ll be rewarded with the feeling of accomplishment. It only takes a little effort for change…for growth…for enjoyment.

You know what changes you need to make just as I know what I need to do. We all know what areas in our lives require more attention. We just have to give a little more effort.

Last week I prayed as I normally do before bed but this time I included, “…I will give more effort.” It was a general statement but it could be applied to all areas of my life. Plus, it was a conversation with God so I know I’m obligated to my words.

From me to you… I WILL GIVE MORE EFFORT.

Will you?

  1. I had to read it twice . That E word is power we sometimes get comfortable in life with no Effort to push forward . Thank you ! That gave me the Effort to move forward ! Thank you !

  2. Effort…a word used too much nowadays and not actually seen alot lately. Now you have me thinking if I put forth the proper effort into some of the things that I do on a daily basis. I truly think its fascinating that what we overlook is the same exact issue that we have with someone else…not putting forth the effort. Great job on bringing this to the forefront. Amazing words from an brilliant leader!
