Enjoy Your Time…and Smile!
Wow! What can I say? It’s been a year since the last time I had a full post. Life has been busy. I PCSd to Japan…pinned on new rank…adjusted to a new work location…and the list goes on and on. I would have to say that this move was what I needed. It took some time to adjust and it’s still an ongoing process. Life here is slower than in the ‘States. Traffic is slow and there’s no rush to do anything. The main theme here is Slow Down & Enjoy Life. Have you been speeding through life? Have you been too serious to crack a smile and be in the moment?
So, what inspired me to write about this topic? The 2012 Summer Olympics! Not necessarily the games but it’s more about the Athletes. There was a common theme that stood out to me when I watched swimmers Michael Phelps, Missy Franklin, and sprinter Usain Bolt. They seemed to be happy…they enjoyed what they were doing. Their disposition was opposite of some of their competitors who looked so serious…I got me game face on! We all know the outcome of their events. The three Happy Olympians mentioned above all won gold medals and broke world records.
Thinking back to a Michael Phelps interview…he was asked about his first race and how he didn’t get gold. He mentioned how he was walking around with a serious attitude. However, after the first race he talked about how he let everything go and started to enjoy his time during the Olympic events. Everything after that was history. What was the change? It’s obvious.
Let everything go and enjoy your time…be in the moment…be present…and smile.

I believe in that. It’s so easy to blow past the simple things in life because society is now in the mind state of hurry up hurry up hurry up. I got back to the States last week and people were telling me deadlines and appointments all the while I just wanted to sit back with my kids…so I’ll really looking forward to take the advice from this post….enjoy life
